Wake me up When September Ends, Framingham. October is my favorite month (sweata weatha!) and there is plenty to do in Framingham.

Events
Halloween Costume Swap: All October long bring gently used and clean children costumes or accessories to the Framingham Public Library Main Branch. Stop by to choose a costume to keep, or to swap an old costume. Please ask a Children’s Librarian to be shown the costumes.
Turkey Trot Registration Opens: Hey turkeys! Time to trot on Thanksgiving! Registration opens on October 1. Each year the road race benefits the Veterans Outreach Center-Metrowest and other local charities. Check their website for registration.
Community Stargazing: Use telescopes to observe Saturn and the Moon on Thursday, October 10 from 6:20pm - 7:50pm. McAuliffe Center staff are available to answer your questions about telescopes and our Universe. This free event occurs on the Crocker Hall Front Lawn at Framingham State University. Farmers Market is Winding Down: The final week of the market is October 10. Enjoy the final weeks on Thursdays from 3:00-6:30pm at the Framingham Centre Common.
Chowder Festival: Dive into a sea of flavor at the Chowder Festival on October 12 sponsored by the Middlesex Ancient, Free & Accepted Masons. Enjoy a weekend filled with delicious varieties of chowder from local chefs, music, and fun activities for the whole family. Taste classic clam chowder, spicy seafood bisque, and unique regional creations. The festival is from 11:30am - 2:00pm at Gallagher Park - Next to 404 Concord Street. 4th Annual Indigenous People’s Day Event: Join the City of Framingham and FPS, and community partners in honoring Indigenous People’s Day on Monday, October 14 from 12:00pm-3:00pm at Farm Pond Park.
The 5th Annual Spooktacular: Tuesday, October 15, 2024, from 4:00 to 6:30 pm at the Memorial Building. Bring your ghouls and ghosts for this Halloween celebration with fun activities, trick-or-treating, and plenty of candy.
Seniors Flu Shot Clinic: October 16 from 2:00pm-4:00pm at the Callahan Center (535 Union Street) sponsored by the Department of Public Health. Please bring your insurance card. For more information call 508-532-5473. Please see flyer to scan QR code for pre-registration.
Pumpkins in the Park: Wear your costume and join us for pumpkin painting, arts & crafts, and a hayride through Cushing Park! The festivities take place on Saturday, October 19 from 1:00pm-3:00pm. Ages 0-12, $5 per child. Spots are limited - register today! Visit www.framinghamrec.com to register.
The Complete Works of William Shakespeare by the FHS Drama Company: Hear Ye! Hear Ye! 4th Annual Mini Golf Trick or Treat Outing: Join the Framingham Firefighters Local 1652 on October 19th for their annual event benefiting the Local 1652 Scholarship Fund. Come play at Putts & More (750 Concord Street, Holliston) from 3pm-6pm. It is $25 to golf and $35 to golf and jump. Costumes and Halloween attire are encouraged. Hole sponsorships are also available. Haunted Trolley Tour: Step aboard for an unforgettable journey through Framingham’s spooky past on this old-fashioned Haunted Trolley Tour!
Our knowledgeable guides and talented reenactors will whisk you away on a 17-stop adventure, where you’ll encounter witches, pirates, highwaymen, and eerie ghosts from Framingham’s haunted history. Be prepared for thrills, chills, and fascinating tales from the City’s storied past.
Tour suitable for ages 8 and up. ADA-accessible trolleys are available. We will have tours in Portuguese and Spanish. Tour takes place on Sunday, October 20 from 2:00pm - 6:00pm. Tickets are $35 each. Purchase your tickets here.

Kids and Paws for a Cause: Support Daniel’s Table on Sunday, October 27 at 1:00pm-3:00pm at Farm Pond Park. Costume Parade for Kids and PETS! Dress up and join us for this fun event! Please bring one nonperishable food or pet food item and help fight food insecurity for our neighbors and their 4 or 2 legged friends. Items to be donated to Daniel's Table. Repair Cafe: Bring your items that need repair, and knowledgeable volunteers will help you try to fix them. Enjoy a free drink and a snack, have fun, and work with a volunteer to repair your broken household item! Free event, but donate what you feel is fair so we can continue to host the Repair Cafe.

“The Haunt” in Hopkinton: The MetroWest YMCA and the Hopkinton Center for the Arts are thrilled to announce the return of "The Haunt," an immersive and spine-tingling theatrical experience set deep in the woods of the YMCA’s Outdoor Center in Hopkinton. This year’s theme event, “The Haunt: A Wedding in Deadwoodville,” will take place over two weekends, October 18-20 and 25-27, and promises to deliver a uniquely spooky and enchanting journey into the world of the undead. Framingham Quakers Fall FUNdraiser: Sunday, October 20 from 2:30pm-6:00pm at the Friends Meeting House (841 Edmands Road). All proceeds go to the Jewish Family Services Welcoming the Stranger Fund to support migrant housing. Blood Donors Needed: The Red Cross is opening a new blood donation center on Sunday, September 8 at 150 Worcester Road, Suite #4 in Framingham. This fixed site offers residents of MetroWest the convenience of a local center to make their life saving donations of blood and platelets! Sustainability Committee: The Framingham Sustainability Committee (FSC) strives to make Framingham a more sustainable community through the consideration of practical new programs and policies as well as public engagement and outreach activities that seek to address environmental, resource, and energy challenges. Deadline to apply is October 14. Click here to apply.
Volunteer at the Callahan Center: Help seniors by assisting them at home or at the Callahan Center with a variety of tasks like attending programs, resident outreach, assistance using electronics, guidance on local resources available, help with yard work, sewing, crocheting, light gardening, minor home repair projects, transportation, translating documents or information and more. Framingham Cultural Council Accepting Grant Applications: Applications for grant proposals for community-oriented arts, humanities, and science programs are being accepted from September 1, 2024 to October 16, 2024
These grants can support a variety of artistic projects and activities in Framingham -- including exhibits, festivals, field trips, performances in schools, workshops, and lectures.
To assist potential applicants, members of the Cultural Council will also be available on Oct 5 from 9 a.m. to noon and Oct 6th at the McAuliffe Branch from 1pm-4pm.
Volunteer at the Y!: As part of our dedication to strengthening the community and empowering individuals to reach their full potential, we offer volunteer opportunities in our programs that address local needs, from combating food insecurity to empowering teenagers to promoting water safety awareness. We are actively recruiting volunteers to support our food program, help us table at upcoming community events, and support our participation in the Rodman Ride for Kids. Nobscot Neighborhood Meeting: Residents of Nobscot are invited to a discussion about the proposed MBTA Zoning changes. The meeting is Saturday, October 5 at 9:30am at the Shillman House.
Framingham Business Association Monthly Meeting: All business owners are welcome to join the FBA. Our next meeting is Wednesday, October 9 at La Cantina at noon. Our monthly luncheons are a great opportunity to network, hear from special guests, and be a part of the Framingham business community.
